465 Children, One Invitation: What Happens When Every Child Says Yes
Dec 05, 2025We have invited 465 children across 9 UK schools to be the hero of their own story. Every single one of them has said yes.
Not most of them. Not the engaged ones. All of them. Including children with SEND. EAL learners. Children who had previously refused to put pencil to paper. Children their teachers had described as unreachable.
When children are given the opportunity to become creators rather than consumers, something shifts that no intervention or template can replicate. They let loose their imagination. They shape their identity through story, solve problems, go on adventures, and discover their capabilities in real time. Storytelling gives them permission to be successful, permission to overcome problems, and permission to imagine worlds where anything is possible.
What happens when we stop asking children to fill in templates and start asking what story they want to tell is not just engagement. It is transformation. 465 invitations. 465 yes responses. Zero behavioural incidents. 100% engagement. Not because the children changed. Because the invitation did.
